I bought this kit primarily to add to my other 2 head bowens kit (500r) so I had more creative options open to me with more lights. The kit has not disappointed and has in fact become the kit I pick up more readily because it has a really nice balance of power and portability as it fits into a bag rather than a trolley case.The heads are rated at 400W and many will possibly be thinking "is this powerful enough". As usual, the answer is 'it depends'. If you're shooting small groups of people or operate in a small to medium sized studio then yes, there will be enough power here. If you intend to use these outdoors for any reason, particularly if you need to balance with ambient light, you may need more power than these can offer in certain circumstances.I shot a complete project with these lights (something like 100 portraits) over a 10 week period in a studio and lugged these around with a portable backdrop system without too much sweating as everything with the lights fits into one sturdy bag. The only gripes about the bag is that getting things in and out of it can be tight and I think most of the cosmetic wear shown on my stands is more from putting them in and removing them from the bag.For the project I mentioned I had my camera set at ISO 100 and f/11 and these lights were set between to between 3.5 and 4 on the power scale to give me a good exposure. The lights had a full 2.5 to 2 stops of power in reserve. Meaning I could have gone to f/20 ish if I needed and still been at ISO 100.The heads themselves are well built and these units have an analogue dial on the side which I have to say I actually prefer to the digital systems of the more modern bowens designs. You just dial in and you're ready. The heads will power dump but they take AGES so it's better when reducing the flash output to fire off the previous charge.The flash duration is 1/1000th / sec so not mega fast and if you're looking to freeze motion in your photography you may need something more than these. The heads also have a built in sensor so one head can be syched to fire form the other head with no extra cabling.These lights are a great addition to an existing lighting kit as they can be used for hair lights and backdrop lights but they also work really well as a starter kit with enough power to let you try out a great variety of lighting setups. The kit comes with everything you need - heavy duty canvas storage bag, 2 power cables, 2 umbrellas, 2 stands, synch lead + 2 reflectors.Great kit at a very good price.
